WeDigMedia: A sustainable business

James and Lyndsey Maiden combined their media, communications and website design skills to form WeDigMedia Ltd. at the beginning of 2015. Their huge collective experience in the third sector and commitment to environmental sustainability have shaped their approach to both family life and business practices.

They run their digital marketing agency from their small-holding in Carmarthenshire, growing their own produce and keeping carbon emissions at a minimum. WeDigMedia supports the small market garden – Gardd Sadwrn, wildflower meadow and wet woodland at the smallholding. Gardd Sadwrn (Saturday Garden) as part of their ambitions to improve their sustainability.

Director, Dr. James Maiden

Website Design and Development, Brand Development, Project Oversight

Initially creating his first business in 2009, James is exceptionally skilled at designing and building websites and providing all associated client assistance and production. James also developed and runs a specialist WordPress hosting service, which was the first “managed WordPress” hosting in the UK to be carbon neutral.

A degree in Environmental Science and Business Management led to James working in the voluntary sector with conservation and youth organisations. His early website and graphic design experience began in 2001 as a volunteer website manager for Cardiff Friends of the Earth.

James’ web development and other digital marketing skills were honed through employment as the Network Coordinator for a group of international aid organisations, including Oxfam, Save the Children, CAFOD and Christian Aid, as well as smaller organisations within the sector. The role covered all aspects of organisational coordination and external communications, resulting in James reading for a PhD in that field.

Director, Lyndsey Maiden

Multimedia Production, Content Design and Social Media Training

Communications has been at the heart of all of Lyndsey’s roles in a number of voluntary sector organisations. Beginning her career with more traditional media forms, she has worked with the BBC, National Geographic, ITV and other large media corporations.

Lyndsey worked for the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales from 2005 until the launch of WeDigMedia Ltd. She developed both their website and online communications from scratch, including social media accounts that are now extensive, lively and engaged with the community. She also provided social media skills training, ensuring that the Wildlife Trust was recognised as a sector leader in terms of digital presence.

Lyndsey is highly experienced in the fields of photography, video editing and audio recording. She used these skills extensively whilst working at the Wildlife Trust and, prior to this, with organisations such as UNA Exchange and Oxfam Cymru. She specialises in designing case studies through both print and multimedia and in training clients in video production and delivery of effective social media messaging.
